Motorcyclist killed after shooting himself during Boca Raton pursuit

Troopers say a motorcyclist later died in the hospital after shooting himself in the head at the end of a pursuit in Boca Raton.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the pursuit began in Boca Raton when a trooper attempted to pull over a reckless motorcyclist near Yamato Road and Technology Way.

Troopers say that after the unidentified driver fled the scene, FHP Aviation immediately launched, providing aerial support to guide ground units to the suspect.

The man eventually stopped near a plaza, where authorities say he pulled out a firearm and shot himself in the head.

He was immediately transported to Broward North Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Troopers originally said he was alert and responsive, but later confirmed that he succumbed to his injuries.

FHP stated that more information will be released as the investigation continues.
