Palm Coast woman, 80, dies in Flagler County hospital after car runs off roadway, crashes into several trees: FHP

An 80-year-old woman from Palm Coast died Monday afternoon after her vehicle ran off the roadway and crashed into several trees in Flagler County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers say the woman was heading south on Belle Terre Boulevard as a van was heading north on the same roadway around 3 p.m.

As the 80-year-old woman was driving, FHP says her vehicle veered left, and cut off incoming vehicles, including the van heading north on Belle Terre Boulevard, in the northbound lanes before crashing into a sign in the median and several trees.

She was taken to a hospital where she later died, the agency said.

FHP said the driver of the van ran off the roadway to the right and made impact with a ditch. They received minor injuries.

Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash, troopers said.
