Two men are dead after an early morning shooting in Lake Worth Beach.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO), deputies responded to reports of gunfire just before 4 a.m. Wednesday in the 900 block of South G Street, near 10th Avenue South.
When deputies arrived, they found two adult male victims in a back alley behind several homes. Both men had been shot and were pronounced dead at the scene.
A PBSO spokesperson said preliminary information suggests the victims knew each other, and the shooting does not appear to be random.
As of Wednesday afternoon, no arrests have been made, and investigators have not released the victims’ names or a possible motive.
Prior Incidents in the Area
The double homicide is the latest in a series of violent crimes reported within just a few blocks of this neighborhood in recent months.
In August, deputies arrested a man following a deputy-involved shooting near South J Street and 7th Avenue South. Investigators say the suspect opened fire before being taken into custody and was later charged with attempted first-degree murder.
In September, a 17-year-old was arrested after allegedly firing multiple rounds during a drive-by shooting on South C Street, just a few blocks east of the current crime scene. Deputies say the teen told investigators he was trying to scare off attackers in an alleyway.
And in June, a man was shot during an argument at a baby shower on South F Street, roughly half a mile from Wednesday’s double homicide. Investigators say the dispute began over a chair and ended with gunfire caught on surveillance video.
All of those incidents — and now this double homicide — happened within a one-mile radius.
Investigation Ongoing
Detectives spent Wednesday morning documenting the scene, collecting shell casings, and canvassing nearby homes for surveillance video or witnesses. The Medical Examiner’s Office also responded.
