8-year-old boy shot inside Casselberry apartment; 2nd shooting victim may be linked

An 8-year-old boy was shot and wounded Sunday in Casselberry, police said.

The shooting happened around 11:25 a.m. at the GoldElm at Regency Oaks apartments.

Casselberry police said the boy was shot in his upper leg while he was inside his apartment.

The child was taken to Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, but his condition was not released by police.

According to police, the shooting was not domestic in nature, nor did it stem from an accidental discharge.

Police said witnesses may have seen a vehicle flee the scene.

After the shooting, another gunshot victim arrived at a Centra Care in Orange County, according to police, who added that the victim could be connected to the Casselberry shooting.

An investigation is ongoing.
