Authorities are investigating after an Okeechobee man was found shot dead in his car at Debbie Park Trailer Park.
Deputies with the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) say that at 3 a.m. Sunday dispatch received a 911 call reporting an unresponsive man in a car suffering a possible gunshot wound.
Law enforcement reportedly responded to Debbie Park Trailer Park, at the 400 block of NE 31st Terrace, and located Santos Gaucin, 40, dead in his car.
Initial reports indicated that the witness noticed the vehicle had crashed and approached the victim, where they discovered Gaucin was unresponsive and bleeding, per deputies. The witness immediately called 911.
Evidence around the vehicle led investigators to believe that Gaucin had suffered a gunshot wound, subsequently ruling the death a homicide.
Investigators say they processed the scene, and the investigation is ongoing at this time.
Authorities urge anyone with information related to the case to call the sheriff’s office at (863) 632-1972 or Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1(800) 273-8477.
Deputies say they will provide more information as it is made available.
