Daytona Beach police said they are investigating a fatal shooting that left a 23-year-old man dead on early Sunday morning.
According to a news release, officers responded around 1:09 a.m. to reports of a person shot near Goodall Avenue and South Grandview Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers found 23-year-old Anthony Chrun unconscious in the front seat of his vehicle.
Life-saving measures were attempted, but Chrun was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
According to the release, the alleged shooter has been detained, but their name has not yet been released.
“Detectives have identified all parties involved and are working closely with the State Attorney’s Office as the investigation continues,” the release said in part.
Police said that a preliminary investigation shows the victim and shooter had an earlier altercation at a nearby bar. The shooter was released that night pending further review.
Authorities say there is no threat to the community at this time.
