UPDATE: Early Wednesday morning, Springfield police department responded to a home in the 400 block of School Ave. after a report from an out-of-town relative saying at least one person at the house had been shot.
Law enforcement said after forcing their way into the home, they found a woman with multiple gunshot wounds and a man who had died from what police said was “an apparent self-inflicted” gunshot wound.
The woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
We’re told this was an isolated domestic situation.
Police say there is no ongoing threat to the public.
