A Sumterville woman was arrested for battery after hitting a medical staff member on the back several times at LifeStream Behavioral Center in Leesburg.
An officer responded to LifeStream, located at 2020 Tally Rd., regarding 22-year-old KR hitting a medical staff member on her back around 1:25 p.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.
The staff member explained that R had asked her to get coloring markers. She handed them to R, who then put the basket on the ground. As the staff member tried to pick it up, R kicked it away with her left foot, the report said.
She went to pick them up again, and when she bent over, R hit her twice with a closed fist on the left side of her back. She pushed R away to get some distance before putting the markers on the counter. R proceeded to hit her once more on her lower back, the report said.
Security footage corroborated the staff member’s account. She did not sustain any visible injuries under her shirt but told the officer where she was hurting. She denied further medical treatment, the report said.
R was arrested on charge of simple battery on law enforcement officer, firefighter, EMT, etc. She was transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $2,000 bond.
