Multiple agencies respond to crash, swarm apartments amid investigation in Pompano Beach

A crash in Pompano Beach appeared to be the center of a massive multi-agency investigation Thursday.

Fort Lauderdale Police, Davie Police and the Broward Sheriff’s Office had several squad cars around Dr. MLK Jr. Boulevard near Northwest 6th Avenue.

Officials haven’t released details of the investigation that started in Davie. Davie Police has only confirmed an active investigation.

NBC6 observed a white SUV that slammed headfirst into a pole outside a restaurant. The door was left open and was badly damaged.

Video from Chopper6 showed officers armed with long guns and swarming an apartment building across the street from where the SUV crashed.

Dr. MLK Jr. Boulevard was shut down between 6th Avenue and 3rd Avenue, but traffic has since reopened.

Multiple squad cars and about a dozen BSO deputies were spotted a block away near the transit center on 3rd Avenue.
