Small plane crashes into vehicle on Florida interstate during emergency landing

A driver was injured after a small plane crash-landed on I-95 Monday evening, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said the plane, which had two people onboard, struck a vehicle as it was making an emergency landing on the interstate. The crash happened near King Street in Brevard County.

Photos showed a vehicle with heavy damage to its rear bumper, roof and back windows. The plane could be seen resting on top of a barrier separating the south and northbound lanes of the interstate.

The pilot and passenger were not injured. Officials described the driver’s injuries as “minor.”

Multiple lanes of the interstate were blocked in both directions while first responders worked to clear the scene.

Officials did not say what might have caused the pilot to make the emergency landing. The Federal Aviation Administration will be investigating the incident further, according to troopers.
