Miramar Beach man arrested after violent dispute with process server

A Miramar Beach man is facing multiple charges after a violent incident that involved a civil process clerk over the weekend.

According to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, STW, 60, is charged with robbery, assault, battery, obstruction, and criminal mischief after an investigation at a home in Miramar Beach on Friday.

Deputies went to a home on Mandevilla Lane on Saturday after a fight was reported. When they arrived, deputies spoke with the victim, who was a civil process server. She said she was at the home to serve civil paperwork to Wheeler and his spouse.

According to the victim, W was hostile from the moment he answered the door. After taking the documents from her hand, W told the victim he had a gun and threatened to shoot her.

The victim was leaving the property when W reportedly pushed her and told her to leave.

W tried to grab the victim’s cellphone, which she was using to record the situation. He grabbed her lanyard, which held her identification. Then he managed to get the phone and repeatedly threw it to the ground, damaging the device.

The victim said that W kept shoving her, forcing her to defend herself to get away from the property.

Deputies attempted to contact W at his home, but he did not respond.

While deputies were still on scene, W called Walton County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center and said he would not speak with law enforcement without an attorney present.

He was found and arrested later that day and booked into the Walton County Jail. W received a $15,000 bond and was released Sunday afternoon.
