Villager allegedly punches golf cart driver who hit pedestrian on Morse Boulevard

A Villager allegedly punched a golf cart driver who hit a pedestrian on Morse Boulevard.

TKB, 70, who lives in Villa de Laguna in the Village of Rio Grande, is facing a felony charge of battery following his arrest Monday by Sumter County sheriff’s deputies.

The sheriff’s office was dispatched at about 8 a.m. to the intersection of Morse Boulevard at San Juan Drive near the entrance to the Village of Hacienda where “an elderly female had been struck by a golf cart.”

When deputies arrived on the scene, B was found near the unconscious woman, who had been hit by the golf cart and was lying on the ground. EMS personnel were attempting to provide aid to the injured woman.

The 73-year-old woman who had been driving the golf cart said that B, who stands 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 220 pounds, walked up to the golf cart, raised his two fists and pushed through the golf cart curtain. He struck the woman “in the left side of her face twice,” the report said.

The Florida Highway Patrol investigated the accident which led to B’s apparent outburst, however the accident report has not been released.

B was taken into custody and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. The New Jersey native was released after posting $7,000 bond.
