A West Palm Beach man died on New Year’s Eve following a deadly crash that occurred back in August.
According to a crash report from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) at approximately 2:18 p.m. Jorge Fermin died on Wednesday, December 31. His next of kin has been notified, deputies say.
PBSO says on August 10 at around 6:38 a.m. in Belle Glade, Lon’quinten McFadden was driving a 2020 Chevy Malibu improperly while heading east on Southern Boulevard within the westbound lanes. Around the same time, Fermin, was driving his 2024 Ford F150 west on Southern Boulevard within the westbound lanes.
McFadden failed to correct himself of stop to oncoming traffic and drove into the path of Fermin’s vehicle, resulting in a crash, deputies say.
PBSO says McFadden, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash due to the injuries he sustained.
Fermin, 57, was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center due to sustaining critical injuries, PBSO says. Fermin died eight days before his birthday, the report shows.
