A wild wreck on the water was caught on camera in Palm Beach, but that was the beginning of a bizarre series of events that included a dog stranded on a moving boat, and a man leading other boaters on a pursuit.
People eating at Prime Catch just past the Boynton Beach Inlet couldn’t believe what they were seeing.
One of the restaurant’s customers took cell phone video showing a boat out of control, circling in the intracoastal moments after they watched it slam into the Woolbright Bridge and then into nearby private docks just after 7 p.m. Sunday.
The crash was so loud it set off a neighbor’s doorbell camera.
Investigators say the two people on board were then thrown into the water but a dog was left on board.
Boynton Beach Fire Rescue says MG, who was behind the wheel, somehow managed to climb back onto the moving boat and took off.
Two other boaters then got in their boats to chase after him. He didn’t get too far, though.
Investigators say G’s boat started sinking just a few miles away, near the George Bush Bridge.
The dive team pulled him, the woman and the Labrador out of the water.
The passenger was taken to the hospital with injuries to her head and back.
Police are investigating whether drugs or alcohol played a role.
As of now, G is facing charges of leaving the scene of a boating crash.
