A 22-year-old man from Green Cove Springs was killed Saturday night in a single-car crash after the driver lost control in rainy conditions, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened just before 10 p.m. as a sedan was traveling eastbound on J. Turner Butler Boulevard from I-295 in the outside lane.
Investigators say the driver lost control, left the roadway and partially rotated before colliding with a tree on the shoulder.
The 22-year-old man in the front right passenger seat was pronounced dead on the scene.
The 23-year-old driver from Green Cove Springs and another passenger, a 23-year-old man from Jacksonville, both suffered minor injuries.
