Multiple people were injured in a three-car crash that prompted a large police presence in Largo Wednesday night.

The crash happened near Seminole Boulevard and 16th Avenue Southeast.

Authorities said at least three people were taken to nearby hospitals as trauma alerts, though the full extent of their injuries was unclear.

Debris was scattered across the roadway, and one vehicle appeared to have smashed into a palm tree.

A witness said he pulled over and got out of his car to help after coming upon the crash. He recalled pulling a mother and a young girl out of one of the vehicles.

“I seen the girl was in the passenger seat, so I went over there quick. And then her mom was saying, ‘Help me, help me, get me out’,” said Wilfredo Henriquez-Aguilar.

He added that the area can be dangerous with cars often speeding by.

“This cross section right here is very dangerous. It’s a lot of traffic up and down, and people do be going fast,” Henriquez-Aguilar said. “You got to be careful when you get out of here.”

Several Largo patrol cars could be seen around the crash site Wednesday night, with police tape blocking off multiple areas.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation, and no further information was immediately available.

This is a developing story.
