A man was arrested after being accused of shooting and killing his landlord in a Port Charlotte home on Van Buren Avenue.
According to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of a shooting at a home on the 23000 block of Van Buren Avenue around 1:39 p.m.
The CCSO Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene to investigate.
The investigation determined that JR, 38, was in a physical altercation with his landlord, and that during the altercation, Ruddy opened fire, shooting and killing the victim, the CCSO said.
R was found on the scene and arrested.
He faces charges of second-degree murder, possession of a firearm as a convicted felon and failure to register as a felon.
