One dead, another critically injured in Beachwood shooting: JSO

A person is dead and another critically injured after a shooting in the Beachwood neighborhood, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

In a news briefing Sunday night, Sergeant Saunders with the JSO Homicide Unit said they received a call about a shooting at a neighborhood in the 2900 block of Beachwood Blvd. at around 3:30 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found two people shot. One was pronounced dead on scene, while a man in his 20s was taken to a hospital with critical injuries, Sgt. Saunders said.

At the time of the briefing, the deceased victim had not yet been identified. 

The shooting reportedly occurred in a common area outside, and multiple people were detained for questioning.
