Driver killed when Honda Civic rear-ends tractor-trailer on Pine Avenue in Ocala

A 40-year-old man died early Wednesday when his car rear-ended a tractor-trailer that was stopped at a red light in Ocala, police said.

The fatal crash happened around 2:15 a.m. in the 1000 block of South Pine Avenue.

The Honda driver was taken to a hospital, where he died, police said.

The driver of the big rig was uninjured.

“Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the victim during this difficult time,” police said in a Facebook post.

The crash remains under investigation.
