27-year-old woman killed during wrong-way crash in Volusia County, FHP says

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. —

A woman was killed in a head-on crash involving a wrong-way vehicle in Volusia County on Wednesday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said a Ford driver was traveling north in the southbound lane of Kepler Avenue just south of Mimosa Lane when it collided head-on with a southbound Honda driver.

The front of the Ford struck the front of the Honda, FHP said.

The driver of the Ford, a 33-year-old man from Oviedo, was transported to Halifax Health Medical Center with minor injuries.

The driver of the Honda, a 27-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene, FHP said.

The deadly crash shut down a stretch of Kepler Road in Deland.

The FHP is asking drivers to avoid the area.

International Speedway Boulevard and Minnesota Avenue are the best detours.

This is a developing story.
