Motorcyclist dies after losing control, striking three poles on Edgewood Avenue

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said a motorcyclist died on Tuesday evening after they lost control of their bike and struck three poles before crashing on Edgewood Avenue West.

JSO said that speed was likely a factor in the crash and that the motorcyclist, who was declared dead at the scene by JFRD around 5 p.m., appeared to be a man in his 20s.

Police added that the roadway will be closed for about another hour as the investigation continues.

The crash marks the 46th traffic fatality in Duval County in 2026.

Below is footage of the scene when News4JAX arrived, and the roadway was closed off.
