A neighbor’s quick call and a coordinated response from multiple agencies helped firefighters contain a fast-moving mobile home fire in Walton County’s Villa Tasso community on Monday morning.
At 7:44 a.m., Walton County Fire Rescue crews were dispatched to a residence on Magnolia Street after a neighbor reported seeing thick black smoke rising from a nearby single-wide mobile home, according to officials.
Walton County Sheriff’s Office deputies say they arrived first and found flames engulfing the home.
Firefighters arrived moments later and began deploying fire attack lines, according to officials.
Emergency crews say with the assistance of the Eglin Air Force Base Fire Department and the North Bay Fire District, crews quickly knocked down the flames and prevented the fire from spreading to nearby homes.
The homeowner stepped out to walk his dog and returned to find the home burning, according to officials.
Officials say the American Red Cross was contacted to help the displaced resident and his pet.
No injuries were reported. The State Fire Marshal’s Office will investigate the cause of the fire.
