A 39-year-old woman was struck and killed early Thursday morning on 27th Street East.

Bradenton Police traffic homicide investigators are working on the case.

The incidetn happened just before 1 a.m., but the road did not fully reopen until after 5:30 a.m.

Investigators say the woman was in the road when the car hit her, either crossing or possibly sitting or laying in the road, Bradenton Police told ABC7, saying the driver of the vehicle was not at fault.

The driver stayed on the scene and cooperated with police after the incident.
