1 dead, 1 critically injured after reported shooting in Tarpon Springs

Officers confirmed Sunday evening that they are investigating a deadly shooting.

According to the Tarpon Springs Police Department, officers responded at 4:05 p.m. to a reported shooting in the 400 block of Lincoln Avenue.

Police said two men were taken to the hospital in a personal vehicle. One person was pronounced dead, and the other is in critical condition.

Officers believe the incident to be isolated and say there is no known threat to the public at this time.

“I was born and raised here, so I want to let this community know that this isn’t what Tarpon Springs is about,” SPD Assistant Chief Taurean Mathis said. “We’re family here. And we need to bring whoever is responsible for this to justice and give closure to the families.”

Police asked residents to avoid the area as they investigated the incident. Officers also asked that anyone with information call TSPD at 727-937-6151.
