Mulch pile fuels massive commercial truck fire in Palm City; no injuries

A mulch-fueled inferno erupted in Palm City on Tuesday as crews battled a massive commercial truck fire.

Firefighters with Martin County Fire Rescue were called to the scene near SW Long Drive around 2 p.m. following reports of a commercial truck engulfed in flames.

When crews arrived, they found the vehicle ablaze, with the fire threatening to spread due to the close proximity of a large amount of landscaping mulch.

The flammable nature of the mulch made containment a challenge for responding units, but firefighters managed to surround and suppress the blaze before it could spread further.

Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported. The fire was declared under control by mid-afternoon.

The cause of the fire reportedly remains under investigation.
