A local veteran has been displaced after a fast-moving residential structure fire destroyed his mobile home in Ocala on Tuesday.
Marion County Fire Rescue (MCFR) units were dispatched at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14, following multiple 911 calls reporting smoke and flames visible in the 200 block of East Gleneagles Road. Firefighters reported seeing a large column of black smoke while still en route to the scene.
Rescue 528 and Division 1 arrived at the location at 3:52 p.m. to find the mobile home fully engulfed in flames. Command was established immediately, directing a massive response from several local stations. Firefighters from South Forest Station #6 and Anthony Station #1 deployed multiple hose lines to begin the primary attack on the blaze.
They were joined by additional units from East Marion Station #4, Silver Springs Shores Station #17, Belleview Station #18, Rolling Greens Station #28, and Spruce Creek Station #30, who assisted in battling the fire.
Crews were able to bring the fire under control by 4:03 p.m. No injuries to firefighters were reported during the incident.
The American Red Cross was called to the scene to provide assistance to the veteran who was displaced by the fire.
The cause and origin of the blaze remain under investigation by authorities.
