Gainesville man dies after crashing vehicle into tree

A 59-year-old man from Gainesville is dead after crashing into a tree in Alachua County Sunday night.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers say the 59-year-old was traveling northbound on County Road 225 at around 11:30 p.m. For unknown reasons, the driver drove off the road and hit a tree. Troopers say the SUV became fully engulfed in flames.

FHP troopers say the 58-year-old man died at the scene.
