The southbound lanes of Interstate 75 have reopened in Bradenton after being shut down for hours due to a fatal crash.
The incident happened near Exit 220, State Road 64, at around 6:30 a.m.
The Florida Highway Patrol is searching for a black Ford Mustang, which is believed to have veered from the left lane to the center lane, where it struck the side of a Chevy Trailblazer SUV.
The SUV was pushed into the right lane, where it collided with a semi truck. The impact sent the semi across the roadway and it overturned, coming to a stop partially in the median and stretching across all three lanes.
The semi driver, a 34-year-old man from New Smyrna Beach, died in the crash. The driver of the SUV, a 63-year-old man from Palmetto, suffered minor injuries.
FHP said the driver of the Mustang stopped momentarily before taking off on I-75 south. The car is believed to have rear louvers and possibly a stick camera on the rear.
Witnesses described the driver as a male with a stocky build wearing a gray hoodie. Anyone with information or video of the incident is asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol by calling (*FHP) *347, or contact Crime Stoppers.
