3 injured after head-on collision along Meadow Rd in Lehigh Acres

Three people were taken to the hospital after an SUV and a Chevy truck towing a trailer collided along Meadow Road in Lehigh Acres.

The crash occurred at approximately 12:07 p.m. on Monday. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2021 Kia Sportage was traveling east on Meadow Rd., west of 54th Street SW, when a 1994 Chevy medium-duty truck towing a utility trailer was coming towards it.

Troopers said the driver of the Kia crossed into the path of the Chevy, leading to the Chevy swerving to avoid a crash, but the vehicles ended up colliding head-on.

The driver of the Kia, a 44-year-old Lehigh Acres man, and a passenger, a 39-year-old Lehigh Acres woman, were taken to Gulf Coast Medical Center with serious injuries. According to FHP, neither one of them was wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the Chevy, a 48-year-old Fort Myers man, was transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center with non-incapacitating injuries.

FHP said the crash remains under investigation.
