A 90-year-old woman was airlifted to the hospital after she was rescued from a Hialeah house that went up in flames on Tuesday, officials said.
Firefighters responded to the home in the 5300 block of West 14th Avenue just after 11 a.m. and encountered an active fire and heavy smoke, Hialeah Fire Department officials said.
When they searched the home, they found the elderly woman suffering from smoke inhalation.
The woman was declared a trauma alert and airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center for treatment.
