Candle causes mobile home fire in Fort Myers, displacing residents

Fire officials state a candle sparked a fire in a Fort Myers mobile home, displacing occupants and causing minor damage to a nearby structure.

A mobile home fire caused by a candle displaced residents at 3697 Unique Circle in Fort Myers, Florida, at 10:22 p.m. last night, according to the San Carlos Park Fire Department.

Engine 59 arrived to find the mobile home fully engulfed in flames. Crews from San Carlos Park and Estero Fire Rescue worked together to bring the fire under control by 10:58 p.m. Firefighters also worked to protect nearby structures, with minor damage reported to the siding of one.

The Red Cross was requested to assist the displaced occupants.

Lee County EMS and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene. No injuries were reported.

The State Fire Marshal determined the fire was caused by a candle.
