A 67-year-old woman and a 73-year old man died in the crash and 2 others were injured, troopers say

A 73-year-old man and a 67-year-old woman, both from Ponte Vedra Beach, were killed Thursday night when a pick-up truck going the wrong way on JTB hit their SUV head-on near Marsh Landing Parkway, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said that just after 9 p.m., a 21-year-old man, also from Ponte Vedra, was headed west in the eastbound lanes of JTB, just west of Marsh Landing Parkway, when his pick-up truck hit the SUV, which was driving east in the right lane.

The collision sent both vehicles spinning in opposite directions, troopers said.

The driver of the SUV and one of his female passengers died. A 38-year-old woman, also riding in the SUV, suffered serious injuries. Everyone in the SUV was wearing a seat belt, according to the crash report.

The driver of the pick-up, who was not wearing a seat belt, also suffered serious injuries.
