A teen was killed in a crash on Summit Boulevard on Tuesday.
According to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office crash report, at about 1:33 p.m., a 2021 Tesla was traveling eastbound on Summit Boulevard in the left lane. H, 17, was a passenger in the Tesla. At about the same time, a dump truck was traveling eastbound in the right lane and occupied two lanes as it initiated a turn down a canal bank to deliver materials.
A third vehicle, a GMC Yukon, was traveling westbound on Summit Boulevard.
According to the crash report, the Tesla approached the dump truck and failed to slow down, causing the front right side of the vehicle to strike the left rear of the truck.
After hitting the dump truck, the Tesla was redirected into the westbound lanes, where it collided with the GMC Yukon.
The driver of the Tesla and the driver of the GMC Yukon suffered minor injuries. H was killed in the crash and was pronounced dead at 1:39 p.m., the crash report says.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue said firefighters responded to the crash near Summit Boulevard and Summit Pines.
