A Riviera Beach woman is accused of cutting another woman with a machete during a confrontation at a Mangonia Park gas station, according to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office probable cause affidavit.
W, 46, faces charges of armed burglary, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and criminal mischief causing more than $1,000 in damage, sheriff’s officials said.
Deputies said the incident happened about 10:07 p.m. May 23 at a 7-Eleven at 1201 45th St. The affidavit says W confronted a man she had been seeing and a woman who was sitting in the passenger seat of his vehicle.
According to investigators, W opened the passenger door, yelled at the man and reached into the vehicle, where she grabbed a machete. As W pulled the machete from the vehicle, the blade struck the passenger’s leg, causing a laceration, deputies said.
The man told deputies W swung the machete and struck the front of his vehicle as he backed away from the parking space. Investigators said surveillance video from the store captured the incident.
Deputies collected the machete as evidence and took photographs of the woman’s injury and the weapon, according to the affidavit.
W later spoke with deputies by phone but refused to meet with them in person, investigators said.
