The two men stabbed to death in Lauderhill have been identified as a possible motive for the attack remained unknown.
M, 36, and W, 68, were killed in Tuesday’s attack, Lauderhill Police officials said Thursday.
The suspect in the stabbings, 26-year-old D, is facing two counts of premeditated murder and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The incident happened inside the Riviera Hills apartment complex on Northwest 19th Street.
Police said a man flagged down an officer patrolling the area who said someone tried to stab him, and an officer spotted the suspect who then ran off.
A perimeter was set up and a short time later, police received a 911 call from a passerby who said a man was lying on the ground suffering from apparent stab wounds.
While searching the area, officers found a second man suffering from apparent stab wounds.
Police said detectives reviewed surveillance video that showed D following one victim into an apartment before later approaching the second victim who was sitting outside.
D was seen in the footage making stabbing motions toward the second victim before chasing him on foot, police said.
A knife and bloody clothing believed to be connected with the crimes were also recovered, officials said.
D was arrested several blocks away. He was booked into jail and later ordered held without bond.
Police said they haven’t been able to determine any sort of relationship between D and the victims but said they believe it was an isolated incident and they believe there’s no threat to the community.
