Wanted driver arrested after fleeing crash scene; more charges expected

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and its K-9 team arrested a man just after 3 a.m. when he crashed a car and ran from deputies.

According to Jackson County authorities, deputies responded to a crash on Danford Bay Road in Graceville. When they arrived, deputies confirmed the Jeep involved had been reported stolen earlier that morning by the Panama City Beach Police Department.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said the driver, D, was also wanted on an active felony warrant for failure to appear in a previous fleeing and eluding case.

Deputies found D at a nearby home, and when they tried to make contact, he ran through a field into the woods.

The K-9 tracking team was deployed and quickly found D.

He was arrested for resisting an officer without violence and taken to the Jackson County Correctional Facility.

Authorities said more charges are expected related to the stolen vehicle.
