Fort Myers woman killed in fiery crash on I-75 near Alico Road in Lee County

A 35-year-old Fort Myers woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash on southbound I-75 near the Alico Road exit in Lee County on Monday afternoon.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman was driving a 2022 Toyota at mile marker 130 before she went off the road and entered the sloped grass shoulder.

The front of the vehicle hit the signpost for the exit 128 off-ramp to Alico Road at 12:19 p.m., and after the crash, the Toyota caught on fire, troopers said. The woman died at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
