Woman in her 40s fatally stabbed following altercation in College Gardens neighborhood

Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating a fatal stabbing after police say a woman was killed following a physical altercation on the city’s Kings Road.

Officers responded to Kings Road at 12:18 p.m. after receiving reports of a stabbing. A woman in her early 40s was found suffering from at least one stab wound. She later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say the victim was involved in a physical altercation with another woman before being stabbed with a sharp object. Detectives are still working to determine what led up to the fight.

A couple of individuals have been detained as the investigation continues, according to police.

JSO said it believes the incident was isolated and there is no threat to the public.
