Fire engulfs Weeki Wachee Airbnb, neighboring home

An Airbnb and a neighboring home caught on fire early Monday morning, Hernando County Fire Rescue announced.

Crews responded to the 7000 block of Coventry Court in Weeki Wachee around 3 a.m. after reports of a house fire.

Arriving, HCFR found a two-story home used as an Airbnb with heavy fire and spreading to a neighboring home.

Neighbor A sent in videos of the houses on fire, saying, “Thank you, firefighters.”

Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames in the second house, and after 45 minutes, they knocked down the fire in the Airbnb.

According to HCFR, all occupants of the two-story home escaped the blaze without injury; the second home was unoccupied.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
