A Hendry County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle collided with another vehicle at an intersection in Montura, overturning and leaving one driver injured, according to an update from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the marked sheriff’s SUV, equipped with activated emergency lights and siren, was traveling east on Montura Avenue and approaching the stop sign at the intersection of South Hacienda Street.

The SUV proceeded past the stop sign and entered the intersection, where its front collided with the side of a second vehicle traveling south on South Hacienda Street, which does not have a posted stop sign.

Post-collision, the sheriff’s SUV traveled off the roadway and overturned. The second vehicle rotated, left the roadway, and collided with a concrete pillar and fence.

The driver of the second vehicle sustained non-incapacitating injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
