A 33-year-old woman from Bossier City, Louisiana, was killed after being hit by an SUV while crossing U.S. Highway 98 in Santa Rosa County on Wednesday.

Troopers say the crash happened at 5:31 a.m. at U.S. Highway 98 and Janet Street.

A pedestrian was walking southbound from the median on U.S. Highway 98, crossing the left turn lane and into the eastbound inside lane when she was struck, according to FHP.

Troopers say a white Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling eastbound in the inside lane when the pedestrian crossed into that lane and was hit, according to the crash narrative.

The SUV driver, a 35-year-old woman from Navarre, was not injured.
