Man arrested after fight turns deadly in Seminole Heights: police

An arrest has been made following a deadly shooting that took place in Seminole Heights on Saturday.

TPD said officers responded to a report that several people were involved in a fight in the 7100 block of North Nebraska Avenue late in the evening on August 29.

Upon arrival, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound who later died from his injuries.

While on the scene, 43-year-old M approached officers and identified himself as the person who shot the victim.

M claimed self-defense, saying he shot the other man because he threatened him. A review of surveillance video instead showed the victim holding his hands up immediately before M shot him, TPD said.

He was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and possessing a firearm as a felon. TPD did not say what his prior felony conviction was for.
