Two teenagers were arrested Wednesday morning, a day after a fight and shooting occurred inside a residential complex in Hialeah, authorities confirmed.
According to Hialeah police, the shooting was reported shortly after 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Aquabella community in the area of Northwest 91st Avenue and 170th Street.
Hialeah police officers and Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene.
Police said detectives learned that multiple people met at the location for a “pre-arranged physical fight” in order to “resolve an ongoing dispute.”
“During the confrontation, a handgun was produced and multiple shots were fired,” Lt. Eddie Rodriguez told Local 10 in an email Wednesday. “Witness statements and physical evidence revealed that the gunshots were directed at a victim who was fleeing on foot, as well as toward an occupied black Chevy Tahoe attempting to leave the scene. A round did (strike) the driver’s side of the vehicle.”
Rodriguez confirmed that no one was injured by the gunfire.
He identified the suspects as Luis Padilla Delatorre and D, both of whom are 17.
Delatorre and D both face felony charges of attempted second-degree murder with a deadly weapon/firearm and shooting/throwing a deadly missile.
They were both transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
