Man, 60, dies after being hit by vehicle in Green Cove Springs

A 60-year-old Green Cove Springs man died Thursday night after he was struck by a vehicle while walking across the northbound lanes of U.S. 17 near Little Ruth Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 9:02 p.m. An 18-year-old Green Cove Springs man was driving north in the left lane when the front of his sedan hit the pedestrian, FHP said. The driver was not injured.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
