A 31-year-old Jacksonville man was critically injured Wednesday night when his motorcycle crashed into a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer on I-295 in Duval County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported around 8:02 p.m. on I-295 South, north of Commonwealth Avenue.

FHP said the man was riding a black Kawasaki motorcycle southbound at a faster speed than a silver GMC pickup truck and a tractor-trailer traveling nearby. The motorcycle struck the pickup’s right rear, then hit the rear left tire of the tractor-trailer’s cab.

The motorcycle flipped, throwing the rider to the ground. He was taken to UF Health Jacksonville with life-threatening injuries. FHP said he was wearing a helmet.

The drivers of the pickup truck and tractor-trailer, both Jacksonville men ages 32 and 53, were not injured. The crash remains under investigation.
