A woman was being checked for a possible head injury after she was knocked from her golf cart Thursday afternoon near a tunnel in The Villages.
The 49-year-old woman, who lives in the area but outside of The Villages, was driving a blue golf cart at about 1:45 p.m. on the multi-modal path at a tunnel near the Village of Belle Aire.
The woman fell from her golf cart in a mishap involving a second golf cart. A family member said the woman never lost consciousness but was transported by The Villages Public Safety Department as a trauma alert to a hospital in Ocala.
The woman had been traveling with her small dog in the golf cart. The dog was not injured and was taken from the scene by a family member.
The woman’s golf cart sustained a broken tie rod on the front passenger side, leaving it undrivable.
A woman driving a red golf cart was also involved in the accident. She was not injured.
The investigation has been turned over to the Florida Highway Patrol. The accident report has yet to be released.
