Motorcyclist seriously injured after fatally striking pedestrian in Lake County

A 26-year-old Georgia woman was struck and killed by a motorcycle early Sunday morning while in the travel lanes of State Road 429 near Sorrento.

The Carrollton, Ga., resident was in the outside southbound lane of SR 429 at Mile Marker 42 directly in the path of an oncoming 2020 Harley-Davidson motorcycle at 12:47 a.m., according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorcyclist, a 41-year-old man from Winter Garden, was seriously injured in the collision. He was transported to HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital for treatment. The FHP report noted that he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The fatal incident remains under investigation.
