Sun City Center bicyclist killed in U.S. 41 crash

A Sun City Center bicyclist died early Monday after an SUV struck him on U.S. 41, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened about 5:05 a.m. north of Buckeye Road.

FHP said a 23-year-old Ruskin man was driving a 2017 Ford Explorer south in the right southbound lane of U.S. 41. A 40-year-old Sun City Center man was also riding south on the roadway.

Troopers said the SUV driver moved into a continuous right-turn lane, crossing a designated bike lane. The front of the SUV then struck the bicyclist.
