A 73-year-old man is dead after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Barrancas Avenue and Nimitz Avenue, near the Pensacola Country Club on Tuesday morning, according to FHP.
Troopers say the incident occurred around 11:12 a.m. when a red Dodge Ram pulling a red utility trailer, and a black Chevy El Camino, were blocking the eastbound lanes of travel as well as the center lane.
FHP says the red truck was being driven by a 29-year-old Pensacola man and the black El Camino was being driven by a 73-year-old Pensacola man.
The driver of the truck was life-flighted to Baptist Medical Center with serious injuries.
The driver of the El Camino was pronounced dead at the scene by Escambia County EMS personnel.
According to FHP, a witness stated that the Dodge truck was traveling westbound on Barrancas Avenue when the El Camino pulled out of the auto collision center at 3550 Barrancas Avenue, just east of Nimitz Road. The El Camino pulled out directly in front of the Dodge Ram, and the Ram driver attempted to avoid the collision but was not able to.
No further details have been released.
