One person was taken to the hospital after a house caught on fire early Wednesday morning, the Plant City Fire Rescue announced.

PCFR responded to a fire on Gordon Street around 3 a.m., where they found a home engulfed in flames.

Crews initiated an aggressive fire attack and worked to contain the fire.

One person was treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital. Their condition remains unknown at this time.

“Plant City firefighters responded within minutes to find the home well-involved,” said Jeremy Sidlauskas, Fire Chief of Plant City Fire Rescue. “They quickly went to work battling the fire while also providing care to one patient, who was then transported by Hillsborough County Fire Rescue. We appreciate the hard work of our crews and the assistance of our public safety partners.”

Crews are investigating the cause of the fire.

PCFR urges residents to have working smoke alarms in their homes and to practice fire escape plans regularly.
